Healthy konnyaku tea jelly recipe

Konnyaku jelly flavoured with iron goddess tea

Konnyaku or konjac jelly(蒟蒻) is a known traditional health food in Japan has been consumed for over 2000 years. It appears in many dishes in Japanese cuisine such as oden, sukiyaki and sashimi. Besides that, it is also widely used as a substitute for gelatin in making jelly dessert.

Konnyaku has no fat, low in calories and rich in dietary fiber. It earns some reputable health benefits such as controlling cholesterol and blood sugar levels, preventing high blood pressure and clearing toxins from our digestive system and an ideal food in weight control. Besides the loads of benefits, it tastes great and 
is very popular as a dessert.

Imagine marrying this superfood with our Iron Goddess Tea, which is also revered for its immense health benefits such as high content of amino acids, vitamins and antioxidants plus weight loss properties. This guilt-free dessert is simply not to be missed and really easy to prepare. See below for the recipe and instructions.

Makes 14 jellies

14g or 2 packs of Iron Goddess Tea (No.1, Light Fresh Scent)
1 pack of Konnyaku jelly powder, sweetened (you have to add sugar if you are using
a non-sweetened brand, about 1/2 cup sugar for every 500ml water)
500ml water

Open 2 packs of Iron Goddess tea and put the tea leaves in a infuser, rinse the tea in boiling water
to loosen the leaves, drain and put into a pot. 

Pour 500ml into the pot and boil the leaves for 5 minutes. Let it steep for half an hour.

After half an hour, drain the tea leaves and run the tea over a paper filter to remove any
small bits of leaves.

Pour the tea back to the pot and put in the konnyaku jelly powder. Boil the mixture for 5 minutes and
keep stirring to avoid any clumps. Sweeten to taste if necessary.

Pour the mixture into jelly moulds and let cool. Chill them overnight in the refrigerator.
Serve the next day.
